HOSPITALMD

HST was formed in 1996 to integrate leadership and business skills from within and outside healthcare to develop new solutions, and to integrate business with the practice of medicine. We initially served as consultants and advisors to hospitals.

In 2000, we added to our consulting experience by purchasing and re-opening a community hospital that had closed. In addition to owning and operating our own hospital, we were engaged by the Governing Boards of several other community hospitals to manage their hospitals. Each of these had been pronounced dead by the “industry leaders” and no other organization offered to assist for fear of failure.

Our experience with owning and operating small community hospitals led us to believe that most community hospitals can be financially viable and successful. Our operating experiments were successful but we struggled to generate sufficient revenue. We discovered that most of these community hospitals got insufficient market share due to patient out migration. This led to a quest for market share and revenue and discovery of the causes of market share decline.

From this discovery, we formed HospitalMD in 2004 to develop Hospital Medicine MD (H2MD), a proprietary hospital-based medical practice model, that achieved quantum increases in net revenue of over 50% within 6 months in our initial development hospital site.
